A note from the Author:

The book is divided into three parts. A stream-of-consciousness narrative. A fashion flashback. An A to Z of nostalgic ephemera. There are lots of memory-evoking images, each of which tells a story of its own. The photograph of myself on the cover, I chose because it personifies innocence. A child of the 1940s, unaware of the implications of war, wearing a Stewart- tartan skirt that is a touch too short, bloomers that are a little too long, a black velvet bolero and British-made Mary Jane shoes. Whether your Dunedin was my Dunedin, or you belong to a younger generation, my wish is that you find this glimpse into the city's once-upon-a-time world, edifying, entertaining and enjoyable.
